Cultural Continuity Infrastructure
Culture stays alive when someone passes it on.
Past2Next is being built to help every generation discover, transmit, recreate and experience the living culture that matters to its communities — from person to person, from one generation to the next.
Early stage — the platform is in its foundation phase.
How it is meant to workWhy now
What a generation knows can disappear in a single lifetime.
A recipe, a craft, a way of welcoming a guest, the story behind a place name. Most of it was never written down. It lives in people, and it travels only when one person shows another.
Today the generations who carry this knowledge and the generations who will need it spend less and less time together. An archive can keep a record. It cannot keep a practice alive.
Culture is not
- a static archive
- a museum behind glass
- a quiz
- a tourism stereotype
- something for AI to invent
Culture is
what people do together, and hand on to those who come next.
Mission
To help every generation discover, transmit, recreate and experience the living culture that matters to its communities.
- Discoverfind what your community knows
- Transmitpass it from person to person
- Recreatepractise it, make it again
- Experiencelive it in shared places
Four engines
Four engines, one continuous movement
Past2Next is designed around four connected parts. They are planned capabilities: described here to show where we are heading, not offered as a finished product.
People ↔ People
Generations Bridge
Brings the people who hold knowledge together with the people ready to learn it, in safe and structured ways.
Planned capability
Young people ↔ Culture
Culture Missions
Invitations to ask, listen, make and take part, so young people meet their culture by doing rather than memorising.
Planned capability
People ↔ Experience
Living Culture Spaces
Real, shared places where culture is practised and felt, not only displayed.
Planned capability
Culture ↔ Memory
Living Memory Graph
A memory of who shared what, in whose words and on whose terms. It keeps different accounts side by side instead of declaring one truth.
Planned capability
The path
How knowledge is meant to travel
A mission begins
An invitation to ask, to listen or to make.
A Knowledge Holder shares
Someone who knows tells it in their own way.
Transmission happens
Between people. Recording is optional.
Consent and Cultural Rights
Those whose knowledge it is decide what, for which purpose and how far.
Correction and review
People correct. The community reviews.
Living memory
What is permitted stays, with its origin recorded.
Living experience
Others encounter it, and a new participant begins a new mission.
The measure is not how much is uploaded. It is whether something was truly passed on: safely, meaningfully and on the community's own terms.
Principles
What does not change
- Communities define.
- Institutions enable.
- Technology supports.
Communities decide
Cultural knowledge stays with the communities who live it. Not with a government that funds a programme, an institution that holds a collection, or us.
Rights come first
Who may see, use, translate, share or build on something is decided for each purpose. Public does not mean unrestricted.
Consent can change
Consent is specific, tied to a purpose, and can be withdrawn.
Children are protected by design
Safety is part of how the platform works: no open contact between adults and minors, no public directory of children, no hidden recording.
AI assists. It never decides.
AI may help transcribe or translate when a community allows it. It does not judge authenticity, rank cultures or speak for anyone, and every community can choose no AI at all.
Original words stay original
The original voice, language, dialect and script are kept. A translation accompanies the original. It never replaces it.
No cultural surveillance
No loyalty scores, no patriotism scores, no profiling of beliefs. Not now, not later.
Global core, local culture
One shared foundation, adapted country by country and community by community, and ready for sovereign deployment where a nation needs its data to stay at home.
Your culture is never held hostage
What communities and institutions entrust to the platform must be able to leave with them.
Who it is for
Built with many people in mind
Communities and Knowledge Holders
Share on your own terms, and be recognised for what you carry.
Young people and families
Take part, ask questions, make something. Together.
Schools and cultural institutions
Turn heritage into participation, with safeguards in place.
Governments, foundations and international partners
Support cultural continuity with evidence, not surveillance.
Where we are
Where we are today, plainly
Past2Next is at the beginning. We would rather say exactly what exists than suggest more than is true.
Live today
- This public site, in English, Persian, Arabic and Turkish.
- The product foundation: its principles, requirements, and rights and safety rules are defined.
Being built
- The platform itself. Nothing described above is open for use yet.
Not available yet
- Accounts or sign-up
- Missions, spaces or the memory graph
- Any AI feature
There are no customers, partners, pilots or impact figures to report, so we report none.
From past to next.
Every generation receives something and decides what to hand on. We are building the infrastructure to make that handing-on easier, safer and fairer, for every community that wants it.
